What do you think you would do if you were a buffalo walking around and eating grass and you saw a storm coming straight for you? Would you run away? All other animals would run away too. But not the buffalo. They watch that storm and as soon as it gets close, they run towards and straight into the storm, and they keep running through it until they reach the calm at the end of the storm. And guess what? They get through the storm faster than if they had run away. By running straight towards it they shorten the time that they must stay in that stormy weather.
We can be like buffalo too! When our storms of anxiety come at us, we can choose to run straight towards them and bravely face them. By running towards them instead of away, we will see that our storm won’t last as long. Try this the next time you are feeling anxious. Run towards that feeling, not away from it. Face it. Feel it. Describe it. Bravely wait for it to pass. Be like a buffalo!
